Chai Tea Loaf
Spiced tea meets spiced cake in this delicious recipe submitted by Tickled Tea fan Miranda W.
Ingredients
Chai loose tea
1 cup milk
1 cup water
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp poudre douce (*see recipe below)
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup room temperature butter
*Poudre Douce is a spice mix blend. If you don't have any premixed on hand, you can make your own using the following recipe:

1 tbsp Peppercorns

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp gound ginger

3 tbsp sugar

1 pinch (optional) other ground spice like allspice, nutmeg, cloves

Grind the pepper, mix together with all other ingredients.

Store at room temperature in airtight container. Best if used within one year.
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°
Steep a generous amount of chai tea in 1 cup of water and 1 cup of milk.
Sift all dry ingredients together.
Cut in butter until crumbly
Add steeped chai tea until just blended
Pour into a greased loaf pan
Bake at 350° for 50-60 min.
